Full Description

Swadlincote Colliery is named on late 1880s OS maps with sidings and a short stretch of railway connecting it to the Burton and Swadlincote branch railway. (1, 2) The colliery is named as Cartwright Colliery on the 1902 OS map. (3) Old Shafts are named on the 1920 revision. (4) The area is shown as an open space on the 1976 map. (5) There is now no evidence of the former colliery [1995]. (6)
