Full Description

An 'old pit' is shown at this approximate site on a map of 1856. (1) The OS map of 1836 names 'Swadlincote Old Collieries' to the east of Swadlincote at this approximate location, with three ?shafts shown on the plan as small open circles. One of these may well relate to the 1856 pit. (2) A small hachured depression (not named) is shown at SK 29351983 and possibly corresponds to this site. (3,4)
