Full Description

SK 250 192 Royle Mill is named on the 1st edition 1" OS map of 1836. (1) It is shown as 'Flint Mill (Disused)' on the OS map of 1887, sited on an unnamed stream flowing north to the River Trent. (2) It is shown as 'Flint Mill' on early 20th century maps. (3-5) The building is now [in 1995] a farmhouse. (6) The mill was already present in the 1820s, as it is shown on Greenwood's map of 1825 as 'Flint Mill'. (7)
