Full Description

Excavations by the University of Leicester Archaeological Service along the line of a haul road identified a small group of features at c. SK28552840. One of these features, a pit measuring 1.75m by .7m, had a possible post setting at its west end. Initial excavation of the fill produced a large fragment of a polished stone axe, thought to be from a Welsh source. Post holes to the east of the pit were identified, and one had a post-pipe and packing cobbles. (1)
