Full Description

Upper and Lower Quarry- 19th century stone working. (1) (SK 373 274) Stone Quarries (NAT). (2) (Group centred SK 3730 2741) Old Quarry (NAT) (twice) at SK 3723 2739 and SK 3732 2743 shown as earthworks either side of the road leading to Swarkestone Bridge. (3-4) Both quarries (not named) shown as earthworks. (5) The quarries described above were confirmed as an earthwork sandstone quarry of Post Medieval date seen as four very large (>50m) amorphous negative features, in a random pattern. Mapped using good quality AP's. Centred at:- SK 3731 2741 Additional NGR: SK 3723273 (Morph No. FR.163.2.1) (6)
