Full Description

Factory not depicted on the OS map of 1887 - area shown as residential. (1) (Name centred SK 384 253) West End Factory (named on OS maps of 1901). (Unclear which building name applies to ). (2) Factory not depicted - area shown as residential. (3-4) The West End Boot Factory was built on South Street in 1882 and was so successful that it had doubled its size by 1895 (6). It was destroyed by fire in 1947 (7).
