Full Description

Eastern end of major lead vein crossing Longstone Edge from west to east. Extensive early lead mining, much evidence of which has been destroyed by later, very extensive fluorspar extraction by dragline and removal of adjacent waste hillocks. Much of the major vein is now backfilled and restored apart from High Rake, partially infille with rock faces left for geological interest and Deep Rake to the east which at present (1997) remains open following extraction of fluorspar.
