Full Description

Milestone on the B6054 Froggatt Edge Road, marked Gleadless 11 Miles, Calver 3 Miles. Photographic record. (1, 2) The milestone has a visible height of 18 inches, a width of 21 inches and depth of 3 inches. Both distances are recorded on the same face of the milestone, hence the width. Each half has the name of the destination, 'GLEADLESS' and 'CALVER', inscribed in a semi-circle, the number '11' and '3' respectively within the semi-circle and 'MILES' inscribed below. (3)
