Full Description

Set at an angle, the milestone reads 'Gleadless 12 Miles' and 'Calver 2 Miles'. (1) On the turnpike road between Gleadless and Calver, originally run by the Greenhill Moor Turnpike Trust, later (from 1825) the Owler Bar Trust. The stone is tilted in the ground, is 18 inches wide, 4½ inches deep and has a visible height of 21 inches. (3)
