An amount of pottery, including Iron Age (two sherds), Romano-British, medieval and post-medieval material, was found during surface collection in 1999 by Ockbrook and Borrowash Historical Society in a field (no 0006) west of Hay Grange on the north side of Far Lane. Some flints and fire-cracked pebbles were also collected. A particular concentration of Romano-British pottery (>50 sherds) was identified in an area of 50m x 50m in the southern corner of the field.
