Monument record MDR752 - Earthwork, Cubley Common

Type and Period (1)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

(SK 167386) An aerial photograph of 1975 shows a 'V' shaped feature possibly surviving as a low bank in a field under crop. Approximate dimensions, 70.0m square. (1) The siting falls in a field of rough pasture on a gentle south facing slope with a prominent outlook to the south and west. No identifiable earthwork was seen, but the area has been subject to artificial levelling. Rough undulation in the southern part of the field is probably indicative of occupation, and the close proximity of a spring and brook emphasises the suitability for habitation. No finds were made on perambulation. (2)
