Full Description

Guidestone with a height of 1.20m. The west face reads 'To Chesterfield 7 Miles' and the east face reads 'To Tideswell 9 miles, Manchester 35 Miles, HA 1919'. On the 1759 Chesterfield-Hernstone Lane Head turnpike, now Clod Hall Lane (1) 18th century milestone, comprising a tapering gritstone slab with a double curved arched top. (3). The visible height of the milestone as recorded in November 2002 was 52 inches, with a width of 18 inches and a depth of 2½ inches to 8½ inches (wedge-shaped). One face reads 'To / Chefterfield / 7 Miles'; the other 'To / Tidefwell 9 / Manchefter 35'. (4)
