Full Description

Mile Post at OS 235713. Grade II cast iron mile post, early 19th century in date. It has a circular shaft rising to a cylinder with a moulded top and divided into panels by bead mouldings. It is Inscribed LONDON (embossed) 152/ ASHFORD 3/ BAKEWELL 2/ BUXTON 13/ BASLOW 2/ CHESTERFIELD 10/ SHEFFIELD 12. On the Chesterfield to Ashford turnpike of 1812. (1-3). Now A619.
