Full Description
A number of earthwork features were noted in King's Wood, Sheepbridge, during field evaluation of adjacent fields in 1994. These features included a quarry with associated terrace way and minor workings, and a kiln, probably for white coal. Such kilns were used to dry wood for use in the lead-smelting process until the end of the 18th century. (1)
