Full Description

'Shipley Colliery (Woodside Pit)' is situated here on the 1st edition 25" OS map of c. 1880. (1) It is named as 'Woodside Colliery' by the 2nd edition 25" OS map of c. 1900. (2) The colliery expands throughout the early 20th century. (3-4) Much of the site has since been redeveloped, but some of the dismantled mineral railways [also see SMR 25306 and SMR 25312]are still visible on modern OS mapping and aerial photographs. (5-6)
