Full Description

A coal pit is shown in this area on a map of 1855, accessed via a tramway (see SMR 4935). (1, 2) The pit appears to have fallen out of use by the end of the 19th century, as it is not shown on the 1st edition 25" OS map of c. 1880. (3)
