Monument record MDR8465 - Ridge and furrow, Paper House Farm, Offcote and Underwood

Type and Period (1)

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Full Description

Earthwork ridge and furrow was recorded in a number of fields surrounding Paper House Farm. The earthworks varied in condition from poor to very well preserved. The majority was of wide inter-ridge interval (10 paces or more), although there was one block with a much narrower interval to the north-east of the farm. (1) The majority of the area around Paper House has been converted into an orchard and so much of what may have been ridge and furrow has now been destroyed, however there appears to be one very small surviving patch in the most northerly field of the mounment adjoining the brook. This is a very small section and it is unclear on the overall extent of the ridge and furrow. (2)
