Full Description

Trenches cut during work on an extension at the rear of Messrs. Butler at No. 5 Irongate in the early 1970s revealed the presence of three timber piles, ranging in diameter from 16-25 cm and surviving to a height of 45 cm. These were apparently associated with pottery of 14th to 15th century date. (1)
