Milestone, B6054, Holmesfield, a mid-19th century structure. 'Milestone on the B6054, east of Owler Bar. Inscribed under a double arch is 'GLEADLESS 8 MILES' CLAVER 6 MILES'. On a turnpike road of 1781. Photographic record.' (1) 'Milestone half a mile east of Owler Bar. Width 23", depth 4", visible height 25". Estimated date of the milestone is c1818.' (2) From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 27 NE 4/144 PARISH OF HOLMESFIELD DRONFIELD ROAD Milestone 550 metres east-south-east of the Peacock Inn, Owler Bar II Milestone. Mid C19. Rectangular flagstone, set into the ground, with an inscription, now painted GLEADLESS/8/MILES/ CALVER/6/MILES. Listing NGR: SK2989777905.' (3)
