Full Description
Octagonal stone building with stone roof known as the 'Round House'. The house is located where the older road from Sparrowpit joins the Chapel-en-le-Frith to Barmoor Clough road (first recorded reference to this road is in 1796). (1)
Originally the Sandway Head tollhouse, built c.1821. Now 'The Round House' turnpike cottage at Chapel-en-le-Frith, on the former Buxton-Whaley Bridge turnpike. Photographic record. (2)
