Milepost, Buxton Road, Fenny Bentley, an early 19th century structure. On the east side of the A515. Cast iron milepost inscribed with 'London 141 Miles, Derby 15 Miles, Bentley Parish' on the top section, 'Buxton 18 miles' on one side and 'Ashbourne 2 Miles' on the other. On the 1738 Ashbourne to Hardlow Turnpike. Photographic record. (1-3) From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 14 NE PARISH OF FENNY BENTLEY BUXTON ROAD 7/32 (West Side) Mile post opposite Bentley Brook Hotel at NGR 176 496 II Mile post. Early C19. Cast iron. Triangular plan with sloping top, rising to a straight back with curved top.
