Full Description

Hey, Tintwistle. Partially extant 19th century farmstead. The farmstead is of a linear plan with two sides of the yard formed of agricultural buildings and additional detached elements to the main plan. The farmhouse is attached to the agricultural range. The site is in an isolated location. There has been significant loss (greater than 50%) of traditional buildings. (1, 2, 3, 4) One of the farmsteads emptied and made derelict at the time of the construction of Longdendale reservoir to avoid potential pollution of the water. The farmhouse and associated buildings are partially demolished. The ruins were refurbished as part of an ESA project in the mid 1990s and were then used as sheep handling pens. (5, 6, 7)
