Stocks, Main Street, Little Longstone, of 17th century or earlier date. 'Stone stock-ends c70cm high set in the ground within a small walled recess on the village street.' (1) 'Each stock-end has a curved top, and a central slit which originally held the wooden stocks.' (2) See (3). From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 17 SE PARISH OF LITTLE LONGSTONE MAIN STREET 3/31 (North Side) Stocks GV II Stocks. C17 or earlier. Limestone. Two end piers with curved tops and slit for the wooden parts to be inserted. The stocks have been set back approximately four feet. Listed for group value only. Listing NGR: SK1924971899.' (4)
