Water supply fountain, 40m southeast of Dale Farm, Middleton and Smerrill, erected in 1876. 'Ornate stone well. The front is inscribed 'The Gift of T.W. Bateman Esq. 1870'. (3) From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK 16 SE PARISH OF MIDDLETON AND SMERRILL THE SQUARE 4/51 (North Side) Water Supply Fountain II Water supply fountain. Dated 1876. Shallow blind arch, with incised voussoirs and projecting keyblock. Surmounted by ball finial, supported on hexagonal columns set into quoined recess in low wall. Inscription on archstones and below arch reads 'The Gift of TWB Esq 1876'. Listing NGR: SK1957763240.' (4)
