- RAILWAY EMBANKMENT (Post Medieval - 1540 AD to 1900 AD)
Protected Status/Designation
- None recorded
Full Description
Embankment built as a long mound with sloping sides. The embankment is grassed over, therefore it is unclear which materials have been used in its construction. The embankment is flanked on either side by boundary walls, (SMR 29040 & 7100), and a stone bridge (SMR 29049), is incorporated within it.
The embankment is approximately 6m high at its highest point, and approximately 30m at its widest.
The north-west end of the embankment overlies, and possibly seals, features of the original route of the Cromford & High Peak Railway. (1-4).
