Full Description

Stone bridge with an embankment on either side. The bridge is constructed from dressed gritstone blocks, with undressed outer faces. The blocks are large, laid in even courses and held together with mortar. The arch is formed by two courses of blue brick and flanked on either side by gritstone buttresses/retaining walls. The bridge is approximately 7m wide and 6m high. The tunnel is approximately 5m wide, 8m long and 5m high. There are circular dimples cutting into the centre of the outer face of many of the gritstone blocks. (1-5).
