Protected Status/Designation

Full Description

Drystone boundary wall, constructed of irregular limestone blocks. The wall stands approximately 1m high at its start. The start point is where the original trackbed, (the wall is part of the pre-1892 deviation), leaves the newer line. The wall also becomes part of the turning triangle boundary wall, it continues on and is interrupted by a farm track and the later line of the Cromford & High Peak Railway. The wall continues along the northern curve of the deviation, until entering Brierlow Quarry, where it is completely lost. (1). NGR: SK 09610 68460 - SK 09080 69340
