Full Description

NGR: SK 30095 56194 - SK 29713 56095. Long boundary wall on the north side of the trackbed. Where the wall traverses areas with a steep drop, it also acts as a retaining wall. It is a drystone wall constructed from gritstone blocks, but the construction varies where the wall stands above the level of the tracks. A short 5m section at the north-east end is constructed of dressed square blocks, some of which are ashlar cut, elsewhere the shape of the stones is more irregular. There are also two phases of construction where the wall acts as a retaining wall, below approximately 1.6m the wall is constructed of square-cut, mortared blocks. (1)
