Full Description

NGR: SK 29640 56045 - SK 28850 55483. Drystone boundary wall, with large, roughly dressed blocks, approximately 1.2m high. The wall is partly located behind a fence and away from the trackbed (present day footpath), it turns back to run next to the track near the milepost [SMR 29709] at the corner of a field. It becomes a retaining wall approximately 1m high where the trackbed is raised on a slight embankment. It is 2.5m high at approximately SK 29505 55922 with small stone buttresses. The wall is tumbled down in the area around a boundary marker [SMR 29711] for about 100m. In the location of two bridges [SMR 29717 & SMR 9735] it becomes a large retaining wall, approximately 5m high, for an embankment. The construction is different in this location, it is still of drystone construction, but has large rectangular, dressed blocks, there are also some slight buttresses in the vicinity of the bridge. The wall forms part of the SAM in the location of the second bridge [SMR 9735]. (1)
