Full Description

A siding to Middlepeak Quarry, (also Hopton Wood Stone Co.) known as Messrs. Smart & Sons siding. The siding is only a few metres up the track from the Steeple Grange Light Railway siding, (also known as Stone Firms Branch & Killer Bros. Branch). Boundary wall, (SMR 15597), stops for approximately 25m before continuing, starting with a stone sleeper. There is a short length of retaining wall behind a wooden fence which currently bridges the gap in the boundary wall. This modern-looking boundary wall holds up a bank of trees and continues round the present day Steeple Grange Light Railway Yard. It appears that the two siding walls no longer exist, although there is a clear track down toward the quarry - presumably following the old Cromford & High Peak Railway line. (1-7)
