Full Description

William Wheatcrofts Quarry. Limestone quarry, approximately 15m x 70m and 10m deep. The details are not available as the area is covered in vegetation. Probable site of 'Ash Hill' quarry, which was one of a number of quarries which sprang up or expanded following the opening of the Cromford and High Peak Railway in 1830/1. (6) This was a small short-lived quarry abutting the south side of the Middleton Incline opened up by William Wheatcroft. (7)
