Full Description

Large stone embankment surrounding bridge SMR 30648. The embankment has vertical retaining walls, approximately 10m high with large buttresses. The walls appear to have been constructed in a series of sections, some of which are limestone, others are of gritstone. All sections are mortared. The limestone buttresses are drystone, whereas the gritstone ones are mortared; one buttress is of concrete. NGR: SK 21908 56205 - SK 21763 56215
