Full Description

Retaining wall forming the west side of embankment, SMR 29921. The wall is of drystone construction using irregular, flat gritstone blocks. The wall retains a drop of approximately one to two metres. NGR: SK 06638 80650 - SK 06779 80374. (1) Line of former drystone retaining and boundary wall, running up from the foot of the west boundary of the Chapel 'plane'. Built as a double line of rails from the start in 1795 to 1796, as the incline was self-acting. Lower part of incline built over by Chapel's housing. (8)
