Full Description

Target Wall, Alderwasley Park. The wall was built by the Hurt family. It was in use at the time of the Napoleonic Wars and has been recently restored. (1) The target wall in Alderwasley Park is a monolithic structure of coursed gritstone with a vertical south-west face and a canted north elevation. The target wall carries a date stone on the east side of 1860 and the initials F H for Francis Hurt. (2)
