Full Description

Former lead acid works, opened in 1913, closed in October 1971 and dismantled in 1972. The works was opened as an offshoot of the earlier Kempson & Co. Chemicals of Pye Bridge. The land was purchased from Kempson's and the plant was built immediately alongside for a distillery plant, specialising in the production of sulphuric acid for the local coal industry. Shown on the 1898 OS as 'Aniline Dyes & Co. chemical works'.
