Full Description

The site is shown as 'Terrace Quarry' on late 19th century OS maps with the location of two cranes shown. (1, 2) On early and mid 20th century maps, the site is shown as 'Terrace Quarry (Play Ground)' and it is marked as 'Recreation Ground' and 'Pumping Station' on modern mapping. (3, 4) As far as can be ascertained Terrace Quarry was still active around 1900, but did not continue working into the 1920s. Terrace Quarry, Milford does not appear to feature in the Strutt documents, but became a relatively large enterprise. (5)
