Full Description

The Strutts built a gasworks in 1822 at Hopping Hill, near Milford, buying a gasometer from Isaac Horton of West Bromwich. (1) The site is shown on late 19th century OS maps as 'Gas Works' but although the gasometer is shown on an early 20th century OS map there is no associated text. The gasometer is not shown on a mid 20th century OS map, although the associated buildings and site boundary are shown. (2, 3, 4, 5)
