Milestone, east of the Bear Inn, west of Fishpond Farm, Alderwasley, a late 18th or early 19th century structure. 'Milestone inscribed 'London 138, Wirksworth 2'. (1-2) From the National Heritage List for England: 'SK35SW ALDERWASLEY 1081- /2/10003 Milestone at SK 3161 5264 II Milestone. Late C18 or early C19. Single gritstone slab, approx 1 metre in height, set into northern verge of the lane running east-west between Wirksworth and Belper. The convex south face of the post is inscribed 'LONDON 1:38 (miles) WIRKSWORTH 2 (miles)'. Listing NGR: SK3161352635.' (3)
