Full Description

Map evidence shows that the River Derwent was crossed by a ford at this site in 1835 (1) and in the late 19th century. (2, 3) The ford appears to have been replaced by a bridge in the early 20th century, although it is shown as a much narrower structure than the present bridge. (4)
