Title Buxton Crescent and Spa, The Crescent, Buxton , Derbyshire: Evaluation Report
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2009

Abstract/Summary

Trial pit and trial trench evaluation in advance of redevelopent of Crescent. The investigations demonstrated that to accommodate the Crescent a large level terrace was excavated to natural shale. Some pre-Crescent structures were identified within the Crescent cellars and to the rear of the building, although these appeared to be post-medieval in date. Potential remains for signficant archaeology in the area of St Anne's Well and the Roman bath first uncovered in the 1690s.
