'This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 30 March 2022 to update text and reformat to current standards SK 45 NW 12/52 PARISH OF BLACKWELL CRAGG LANE (East Side) Newton Old Hall 11.7.51 GV II* House. Mid C17 with C19 and C20 alterations. Coursed squared sandstone with ashlar dressings and quoins. Stone slate roof with two twin flued, corniced C19 ridge stacks and corniced end stack to left gable. Roof hipped to right and with stone coped gable to left, front with flush parapets topped by flat copings and numerous ball finials. Two storied, plus attics and three bays. Deep plinth to sill level. South front has central quoined, chamfered doorcase with C20 studded door, flanked by pairs of four-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows with dripmoulds, which are continuous over central windows and door. Above, a central five-light recessed and chamfered mullion window with dripmould flanked by similar four-light windows. Many of the mullions are replaced and fenestration is all C20 leaded lights. Double gabled street elevation to left with central quoined, chamfered doorcase flanked by recessed and chamfered mullion windows, similar windows above. Interior has chamfered ceiling beams, early C18 panelled door with L-hinges to left hand room. Listing NGR: SK4438459217'
