In the entry for: PARISH OF LONG EATON WILNE ROAD SK 43 SE 4/53 SAWLEY (south side) Baptist Chapel II The following sentence should be added to the description: Above in the gallery, 9 marble wall memorials of various dates from 1822 to 1851. PARISH OF LONG EATON WILNE ROAD SK 43 SE 4/53 SAWLEY (South Side) Baptist Chapel II Baptist chapel. 1800, enlarged 1843. Red brick with gauged brick dressings and slate roof with moulded brick eaves cornice. Single storey with gallery to north end and three bays by three bays. North elevation has central semi-circular headed doorcase with pilastered jambs, broken triangular pediment and double flush panelled doors with traceried fanlight above. To either side glazing bar sashes below flat arches and above three semi-circular headed glazing bar sashes. Above in the gable is a coffer-shaped plaque, inscribed 'Baptist Chapel, erected AD 1800 enlarged AD 1843'. The gable itself has moulded cornice which returns at the corners to form a large broken pediment. Side elevations have similar arrangements of glazing bar sashes and south gable wall has two tall blocked semi-circular headed windows. Interior has panelled gallery on iron columns with turned balustrade to top of panelling. Central section of the gallery is slightly advanced and has a clock face to the front. Plain box pews to nave and a panelled octagonal pulpit to south. Four slate and white marble wall memorials, one c1877, the others all early C20. Listing NGR: SK4713031554
