Description

Farmhouse C17 with subsequent remodelling and additions, and restored C20. Regularly coursed squared coal measures sandstone, with ashlar dressings, quoins and coped gables with moulded kneelers. Ridge stone stacks, and a stone slated roof. L-plan house, with smaller added parallel range to rear. East elevation. Two storeys, three bays with advanced gabled bay to north. Central doorway almost at the junction of the two ranges, with chamfered quoined surround and massive lintel on which stands a 2-light chamfer mullioned window. Oak planked door with two small glazed panels in upper part. To the south of the doorway a 2-light chamfer mullioned window below a 3-light first floor window of similar style. Both south gables have two light chamfer mullioned openings to ground and first floors. South wall of rear crosswing has a 3-light recessed chamfer mullioned window with a plain dripmould. Interior much altered, but a good ground floor hearth, and C17 spine beams and joists may be seen. (formerly listed as Old Hall Farmhouse)
