Description

Farmhouse. Late C17, remodelled late C18. Coursed rubble coal measures sandstone with ashlar dressings, advanced quoins, coped gables with moulded kneelers, gable stone stacks, stone slated roof. Double pile plan. South elevation. Two storeys, three bays, with glazing bar sashes, 4 x 3 panes, set in flush stone surrounds. Central doorway with rusticated architrave, pulvinated frieze and moulded cornice. Six panel door with upper two panels glazed. Rectangular overlight above. Interior. C17 hearth with inscription to massive chamfered flat lintel which reads R RP 1698 and small plaque to hall wall to front range inscribed Joseph Sybray Cordwell 1788.
