Description

'SK 36 SE PARISH OF SHIRLAND & HIGHAM MAIN ROAD 2/40 (West Side) Mile post opposite Hilltop Farmhouse II Mile post. Early C19. Cast iron. Triangular sectioned base with moulded front angle. Flat back, with segmental head, curving forward to form horizontal panel below. North side inscribed 'DERBY/17 MILES', South side inscribed 'CLAY CROSS/ 1 MILE, CHESTERFIELD/6 MILES, DRONFIELD/12 MILES, SHEFFIELD/18 MILES'. Back inscribed 'TOWNSHIP OF HIGHAM'. Raised panel on front inscribed 'J HAYWOOD JNR/ PHOENIX FOUNDRY/ DERBY'. Listing NGR: SK3922361010.'
