Listed milepost by Joseph Haywood Jr of Phoenix Foundry on the Derby-Chesterfield turnpike. (1) Cast iron milepost, having a triangular sectioned base and a flat back, with a segmental head, curving forward to form a horizontal panel below. Painted white, with raised black lettering. The back is inscribed 'TOWNSHIP / OF / HIGHAM'. The north side of the triangular base is inscribed 'DERBY /17 MILES'. The south side has 'CLAY CROSS / 1 MILE / CHESTERFIELD / 6 MILES / DRONFIELD / 12 MILES / SHEFFIELD / 18 MILES'. The panel on front is inscribed in smaller letters 'J HAYWOOD JUNR / PHOENIX FOUNDRY / DERBY'. The milespost is 20" wide. (2)
