Description
'PARISH OF SHIRLAND & HIGHAM MAIN ROAD 38/39 58 38/39 59 6/42 (East Side) Mile post 14 metres north of Quarry Farmhouse, Higham II Mile post. Early C19. Cast iron. Triangular sectioned base with moulded front angle. Flat back with segmental head, curving forward to form horizontal panel below. North side inscribed 'DERBY/16 MILES'. South side inscribed 'CLAY CROSS/ 2 MILES, CHESTERFIELD/7 MILES, DRONFIELD/13 MILES, SHEFFIELD/19 MILES'. Back inscribed 'TOWNSHIP OF HIGHAM'. Front panel inscribed 'J HAYWOOD JNR/ PHOENIX FOUNDRY/DERBY'.
