Description
Outbuilding. C18 remodelling of a C17 range. Coursed squared gritstone with ashlar dressings, coped gables with plain kneelers, single gable ashlar stack with moulded cap, and a concrete tiled roof. L-shaped range, with 6-bay main section, and a 2-bay wing at the south-west end. South-east elevation of 2 storeys and 6 bays, with off-centre double doorway with depressed segmental arch and a quoined surround. C20 half-glazed doors. At the north-east end altered 2 bays, with stacked 2- and 3-light flush-mullioned windows, formerly with leaded lights, now with some lights fixed. Doorway adjacent to windows with massive jamb and lintel. One further blocked C18 doorway, and other inserted C19 openings. To the south-west of the double doorway, a double flight of stone steps leads to a first-floor doorway. 3 first-floor slit breathers and a cruciform breather. Crossrange with C20 double openings to north-east wall, and massive ashlar to base of gable wall, and with hollow-chamfered surrounds to 2 rectangular windows together with corbel course for earlier timbering to former covered entry. INTERIOR: double purlin roof with queen struts and some wind braces survives to the main 6-bay part. Remodelled end has an inserted double hearth with massive lintel. One hearth is now blocked. Listed for Group Value.
