Description

Farm outbuilding. C17 or earlier, substantially remodelled in C19 and with further alterations in C20. Coursed rubble gritstone, beneath a Welsh-slated roof. East elevation of a single storey with overloft at north end, and with attached 2-storey single-bay wing at north end, 3-bay range with C20 boarded double sliding doors at south end, C20 8-paned window, and a blocked C17 doorway to centre bay. North end with single sliding door. North gable with C17 central doorway now blocked with C20 4-pane inwardly pivoting window. South gable with blocked taking-in doorway. West elevation with 3 C20 windows, the outer ones 8-pane and the centre one 10-pane. INTERIOR: Three cruck trusses, one to south end with collar and tie beams removed, but with yoke intact. Ridge purlin now replaced, but replacement collar extends beyond cruck blades to support replacement purlins. Remaining trusses have collars and yokes, dovetail lap-jointed into cruck blade faces. Apex type A after Alcock classification. Single-bay wing with stone staircase to plain first-floor doorway above C20 sliding door to ground floor. Listing NGR: SK3536961057
