Description

This record has been generated from an "old county number" (OCN) scheduling record. These are monuments that were not reviewed under the Monuments Protection Programme and are some of our oldest designation records. As such they do not yet have the full descriptions of their modernised counterparts available. The remains of an early tramway embankment. Revetted in stone, and pierced by 12 brick and stone culverts. The embankment is 3m wide. The area includes the open iron bridge across the River Rother. Grassed embankment 6m wide x 0.4m high with culverts-these are collapsing and becoming dangerous. Bridge no longer in situ and stone abutments collapsing into the river .<2> SOURCES = Desc text/AM7/Gosling PF/1977//<1>; Desc text/AM107/Hart CR/1984//< 2>
